Genre of Music by Composers in Different Eras

Music has all kind of genre. Different eras has different genre, even through it has different genre in contemporaneity. For example, modern composers usually compose pop music, jazz, rock and roll because these genre are very popular by young people. Pop music is simple melody, it doesn't have complex chord and its lyrics is easy to understand so most people can sing pop music. Rock and roll is also representative of modern music. There are many famous rock band in the world of today, especially in Europe and America. Rock music uses percussion mainly so it has super strong beat, at the same time, it also uses electric guitar and keyboard so that its sound is very loud. When you listen the rock music, you will get excited even through crazy.
But most middle age people and old people don't like pop music and rock music. They are fans of western classical music or national traditional music. Western classical music includes baroque music, classical music, romantic music etc. Its genre is more rich such as chorus, solo, opera. Composition genre has sonata, concerto, dance suite and some short piece. Orchestration has chamber music, orchestra, string quartet, woodwind/brass ensemble etc. These music make you relax and enjoy when you listen them that is good for your brain and health. Until now, these genre is used by composers but composers add new material in style.
If you are interested in music, I suggest you listen all kind of the music genre, don't limit in one period music or one genre music.

What Music Means To Me

Music is a fine thing for most people because it can change your mood when you are depressed. Sometimes, when you get tired, music can help you relax. For me, music is not only a thing that makes me feel happy or relaxed but also a part of my life. I think music is my career so I have to practice everyday. I realized clearly that I'm a professional musician when I entered the conservatory of music. Everyone wants to be successful in the career. So I aspire to do more with my music than others who are music hobbyist or amateurs. As a professional musician, I have to improve my performance level as much as possible. I have to consider how to make the audience like my music. I have to learn how to get confidence on the stage. These are series of problems I need to study. At the same time. practice also gives me much pressure. If I don't practice for a day, I will feel uncomfortable and compunction.
On the another hand, music brings much delight to my life. I think music is much better than other subjects such as mathematics, science, physics etc. Music can tell me how to enjoy life and make me feel kinds of sentiment in different compositions. It gives me space to imagine and lets me see a bigger world. Music can also help me understand better the western culture and history.
In short, I love music and I love the violin.

So I hope more people can come to my blogger and give me some suggestions.
Welcome to my blogger!

Student Life Issues

We have some issues as exchange students. For example, we don't fit weather, some food and study environment when we came to Singapore first time.
Actually, We have the biggest problem that is food. Our school is near YIH where is canteen so we have lunch and dinner everyday. After long time, we get bored with food there. There is all kind of food from different countries but some people don’t like indian food and western food or japanese food, they only like chinese food so their problem is they don’t know what they can eat. In addition, the canteen of PGP where is our dormitory has delicious food but it is far from our school so we don’t have enough time to go back for lunch or dinner because we are very busy everyday.
That’s all~
Good night! Guys!

review concert

I listened Saran Chang's violin concert at Esplanade in 26 Mar 2010. I was expectable about this concert since I got ticket because I never listen her performance in concert hall. That time, She played Bruch's violin concerto no.1 in G minor. I sat rear of concert hall but I can clearly listen her violin sound that has rich emotions. Her performance is fantastic. Especially, I like her music and timbre. Maybe this piece is too familiar for her so her music is very fascinating. Her timbre is also very rich and has all kind of colour so her music isn't single, you can hear much things from her playing.
The another hand, I don't like some thing about her performance such as her body action that is too exaggeration. Sometime I think her action didn't agree her music.
Basically, I appreciated her performance!

He is too young to conduct, isn't he?

I think the Gustavo Dudamel is a good conductor. He is enough passion when he conduct the youth orchestra. He has enough talent in the music and he is really like music very much. Some people think he is too young to conduct, I disagree with this opinion. Firstly, we can't evaluate person who is successful or failed by watching his age. By the way, I think the person who was 29 years old is not very young. He has some experiences when he is on the stage.
Secondly, as a conductor, I think his opinions for each piece is more important than his experience because conductor should express he own music by orchestra so he should have own thinks. If a conductor is very experience but he don't have own opinions for music, he will not be welcome.
Finally, experience is from practice. If he hasn't chance to conduct orchestra, he will not have experience forever. So I think he will conduct better with accumulating experience.
